sport

French is easy in this respect, you can almost always say "faire de" + sport, for instance "faire du vélo". In English it is a little more complicated. You have different ways to say it:

1) to play

    volleyball, tennis, basketball, badminton, rugby, football, hockey...

    (In French you can use here as well "jouer".)

2) to go

    dancing, jogging, horse-riding, bowling, running, sailing, windsurfing,

    cycling, swimming, skating, mountain biking, canoeing, skiing...

3) to do

    yoga, gymnastics, judo, karate,...
